Welcome to the Active Events website. Established in 1990, Active Events has since grown to become Scotland's largest international music agency. Artists of all musical genres are represented and we regularly work in Canada and Australia as well as Europe.
Having performed on the American and Uk legs of the Mark Knopler tour Michael McGoldrick was unexpectedly asked to remain for the European leg. Due to play three Uk festivals this summer, Mike would like to thank everyone for understanding what a huge opportunity this is for him and for releasing him from his contracts. We can confirm that Martin Simpson will now replace Mike at Folk by the Oak on July the 25th, Mike says 'This is one of the best new folk festivals in England and I really hope you all still enjoy what is a wonderful line up', Capercaillie and Daimh will now appear at Speyfest on July the 29th. Breabach are currently in Canada where they are playing the Winnipeg and Vancouver Island festivals before heading home to support Runrig at the Heb Celt Festival on July the 17th on the Isle of Lewis.
They head to Warwick Festival on the 25th of July, Cambridge Folk Festival on July 30th and 31st and then onto Sidmouth Folk Week where they appear on the 1st and 2nd of August.
Two festivals in one day beckon on the 14th of August, where the band will appear at Croperdy in the afternoon and then Piping Live in Glasgow that evening!
September 4th sees them begin a stint of Scottish appearances with the Portpatrick Folk Festival before performing at the Blas festival on the 11th and 12th of September.
Daimh released their album Diversions this month on Greentrax Recordings, it’s fab. They have just completed a tour of Scotland with Buille as part of the Scottish Arts Council Tune up initiative and have just returned from Finland where they performed at the Happavesi Folk Music Festival. The band will appear at the Warwick Festival on the 24th of July, Speyfest on the 25th and Sidmouth Folk week on the 31st of July and 1 of August.
Session A9 have European appearances planned at the Lorient Interceltique festival on the 11th of August and the > La Tène Festival in Switzerland on the 27th. They will make one Scottish appearance this summer at The Big Tent Festival in Falkland on July the 24th. Session A9 are touring the Uk between the 6th and 16th of October, with a brief visit to Spain in the middle.
Michael McGoldrick and his new band the Future Trad Collective will make a rare appearance at the Sidmouth International Folk week on the 2nd of August and he will tour the Uk with Tony Byrne and Colin Farell between the 14th of October and 2nd of November 2010.
Karen Matheson will release her new album over the summer and play select Uk dates in November at Eden Court Theatre on the 12th, Eastwood Park Theatre on the 13th, Aberdeen Music Hall on the 23rd and the Queens Hall Edinburgh on the 27th.
Capercaillie will appear at the Lorient Interceltique Festival where they are curating a special 40th anniversary celebration for the festival. They will also appear at the Schotts weekend in Belgium on the 11th of September where once again they curate a special show to celebrate the anniversary of the festival.
Ross Ainslie and Jarlath Henderson will make some rare appearances this summer all out with the Uk. They can be seen in Finland in July and at the Scotts weekend in Belgium in September.
